Aya Nakamura and DJ Snake to Headline Esports World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony
The Esports Foundation has announced Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora as the headline performers for the Esports World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Paris.

The Esports Foundation has revealed the headline performers for the Esports World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony, with French music stars Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora set to take the stage when the event officially begins in Paris next month.
Scheduled for July 8 at La Seine Musicale, the ceremony will mark the start of the first Esports World Cup to be held outside Saudi Arabia. The tournament will run until August 23 and is expected to bring together more than 2,000 players and over 200 esports organizations across seven weeks of competition.
The announcement continues the Esports Foundation's strategy of positioning the Esports World Cup as more than just a gaming event. Much like traditional sporting spectacles, the tournament has increasingly leaned into entertainment, music, and creator culture as a way to broaden its appeal beyond esports audiences.
Paris Takes Center Stage for EWC 2026
The choice of performers reflects the tournament's new host city.
Aya Nakamura remains one of France's most recognizable music artists, while DJ Snake has built a global following through chart-topping electronic hits and festival appearances around the world. Joining them is Theodora, an emerging French artist whose growing popularity has been closely tied to social media and digital communities.
According to Mike McCabe, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer of the Esports Foundation, the goal was to showcase artists who represent different sides of modern French culture while celebrating Paris as the new home of the event.
"As we bring EWC 2026 to Paris for the first time, we wanted to celebrate the city through artists who have helped shape music and culture in France today," McCabe said. "Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora each represent something different, but together they reflect the creativity and influence that make Paris such a special place to host this event."
The ceremony is expected to serve as both a traditional tournament opening and a large-scale entertainment production designed to appeal to gaming fans, livestream audiences, and creator communities.
EWC Continues Blending Esports and Entertainment
The Esports World Cup has made music and entertainment a major part of its identity since launching in 2024.
Last year's opening ceremony in Riyadh featured performances from Post Malone, Alesso, Duckwrth, Tina Guo, SEVENTEEN's DINO, and Telle Smith of The Word Alive. By bringing in internationally recognized artists, organizers have attempted to create a festival atmosphere that extends beyond esports competition itself.
The Paris edition appears set to follow a similar formula, although with a stronger focus on French talent. The lineup combines mainstream music appeal with artists who have built significant audiences through streaming platforms and online communities, aligning closely with the demographics that make up much of esports' global audience.
That approach has become increasingly common across major gaming events, where organizers are looking for ways to connect esports, music, influencers, and live entertainment under a single umbrella.

One of the Biggest Events in Esports Returns
While the opening ceremony will draw plenty of attention, it remains only a small part of what organizers have planned for the summer.
EWC 2026 will feature 25 tournaments across 24 game titles, with more than 200 professional clubs competing throughout the seven-week event. The tournament will also boast a prize pool exceeding $75 million, making it one of the richest competitions in esports history.
The event arrives during a busy period for the competitive gaming calendar. League of Legends' Mid-Season Invitational, the VCT season, Counter-Strike's post-Major circuit, and several regional championships will all feed into what is expected to be another packed summer for esports fans.
With the opening ceremony lineup now confirmed, attention will soon shift toward the tournament itself and the teams preparing to compete for a share of the record-breaking prize pool. For organizers, however, the announcement offers another reminder that the Esports World Cup is aiming to position itself as both a premier esports competition and a global entertainment event.
