GeoComply’s Early Report Reveals Heavy Engagement for Missouri’s Betting Launch

Missouri’s online legal betting is off to a rousing start; with up to 2.6 million geolocation checks in the first 24 hours

GeoComply Data

Missouri’s legal sports betting is off to a blazing start, with strong bettor engagement supported by an active regulator. GeoComply, an industry leader in anti-fraud and geolocation compliance technologies, offered a sneak peek of the activity following the launch of the state’s legal online sports betting.

The company’s early data is telling: actual registrations eclipsed pre-registration numbers, St. Louis and Kansas City became ‘activity hotspots’, and up to 2.6 million geolocation checks were noted in the first 24 hours.

The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC), on the other hand, implemented a structured rollout, maintaining momentum for the state’s regulated betting scene.

Legal Sports Betting Off to a Rousing Start, Strong Data Shows

Weeks before the official launch, the state’s regulator, along with the operators, prepared licensing and registrations in anticipation of a busy opening. For example, licensed operators like BetMGM, FanDuel, and DraftKings started accepting bets last November 17th, under MGC supervision.

There were early projections and conservative estimates, but data from GeoComply show red-hot numbers, as follows:

  • Huge demand, starting from pre-registrations. Most licensed operators opened up their platforms weeks ahead to accommodate pre-registrations. Betting platforms noted around 188,000 pre-registrations, but ballooned to 250,000 active accounts on Day 1.
  • Kansas City and St. Louis dominate. Based on GeoComply’s recent tracking, betting activities were concentrated in two urban areas- St. Louis and Kansas City. Access from these locations passed geo-location checks, suggesting the bulk of accounts created were from these areas.
  • Over 2.6 million geolocation checks. Licensed operators noted more than 2.6 million geolocation checks in the first 24 hours.

‘Show Me State’ Shows Off Why It’s an Industry Leader, Too

Missouri

According to Kip Levin, GeoComply CEO, Missouri is one of the most eager states in the US for legal sports betting. He shared that what his team observed on the first day “is remarkable”. He observed that tens of thousands of local bettors immediately joined licensed platforms.

Levin further added that “it’s a powerful reminder of how quickly consumers embrace a well-regulated market when the option finally exists”.

GeoComply reminds everyone that its data only shows an early look, and a more detailed analysis of the state’s performance will be released soon.
