Missouri Casinos Hit Jackpot Boom as Sports Betting Launch Looms

Local casinos banked $164.9 million in revenues for October 2025, boasting a 9% annual increase

Missouri’s local casinos registered impressive revenues for October 2025, thanks to bigger contributions from its electronic gaming and riverboat properties. According to data shared by the Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC),  the 13 licensed sites collected $164.9 million in adjusted gross revenues, a 9% increase from last year’s performance of $151.3 million in the same month.

Ameristar Casino St Charles topped the list in terms of revenues, banking $27.1 million, but Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville showed the biggest year-on-year change, at +61%.

The casino’s recent surge in revenue comes at a time when Missouri is preparing for the launch of its legalized sports betting.

11 Casinos Lead the Surge in Revenues

Eleven of Missouri’s 13 casinos enjoyed year-over-year gains last October, reflecting the industry’s gradual recovery and growth. Here’s a quick look at the top three performers, according to MGC:

  • Century Casino & Hotel Caruthersville. Earned $15.2 million, with +61% YoY growth, powered by slot machine upgrades and an increase in visitor arrivals
  • Ameristar Casino St. Charles. This is a consistent performer, banking $27.1 million in October 2025, for a 12% growth
  • Hollywood Casino St. Louis. This operator banked $22.4 million, thanks to the strong performance of its table games lineup

Two casinos performed below par: Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau, which dipped 6%, and Bally’s Kansas City with -1%. The casinos’ October 2025 figures place Missouri’s casinos (particularly the riverboat operations along the rivers) as the Midwest's top-performers, beating last year’s revenues.

The Spotlight Shifts to Sports Betting; Launched Is Set for December 1st

The casinos’ jackpot boom comes at a time when Missouri is preparing for the launch of its legal sports wagering. After years’ worth of unsuccessful campaigns, state voters finally approved Amendment 2 in November 2024, allowing MGC to regulate the sports betting market. By midnight, on December 1st, Missouri becomes the 39th state to legalize sports betting.

According to the approved plan, all 13 casinos get retail sportsbook rights. Some of the operators ready to roll are BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN BET/PENN, and Fanatics. Some sites are tethered to teams, like Bet365 (St. Louis Cardinals) and FanDuel (St. Louis CITY SC), with untethered sites too.

These dual developments, growing casino market and betting hype, could grow the state’s $2 billion gaming economy, which can impact other industries like tourism and hospitality. In addition to physical casinos, the state also boasts popular sweepstakes casinos built on the dual-currency model.

While some analysts have offered bold revenue projections for legalized sports betting up to $4.6 billion, the MGC has not issued an official statement or projection as of this writing.
