MSI 2026 Enters Crucial Stage as Title Race Heats Up
MSI 2026 is heating up. With only six teams remaining and elimination matches set to begin, the race to lift the Mid-Season Invitational trophy is wide open.

The 2026 Mid-Season Invitational is entering its most important stretch, and the race for the title is beginning to separate the contenders from the challengers.
After an intense Play-In Stage and several days of best-of-five action, only six teams remain in the hunt for the second international title of the League of Legends season. The upper bracket is down to two heavyweight organizations, while the lower bracket has already become a gauntlet where every series means elimination.
With MSI set to conclude on July 12, the tournament is also shaping up to be a springboard into another major international event. Just three days after the Grand Final, many of these same teams will head to Paris for the League of Legends Esports World Cup, which begins on July 15.
Hanwha Life and Bilibili Gaming lead the title race
As the bracket stands today, Hanwha Life Esports and Bilibili Gaming remain unbeaten and are one victory away from securing a place in the Grand Final.
Hanwha Life reached the Upper Bracket Final after convincing victories over Team Secret Whales and G2 Esports, while Bilibili Gaming advanced by eliminating both T1 and LYON. Their meeting is widely viewed as the biggest series of the tournament so far, with the winner earning extra preparation time ahead of championship weekend.
Meanwhile, the lower bracket has become increasingly unforgiving. Former world champions T1 now face elimination, G2 Esports must recover from a 3-0 defeat against Hanwha Life, and Team Secret Whales have emerged as one of the tournament's biggest surprises after eliminating Top Esports in one of the largest upsets of MSI 2026.

League of Legends Esports World Cup 2026 Approaches
The bracket has reached the point where there are no easy matches left.
The lower bracket returns tomorrow with two elimination series before attention shifts to the Upper Bracket Final between Hanwha Life Esports and Bilibili Gaming. By the end of the week, the road to the MSI title will be far clearer, with only a handful of teams left standing.
For organizations still alive, there's little time to celebrate. The Esports World Cup begins just days after MSI concludes, meaning the teams that survive this week will have to quickly turn their attention to another international stage.
