VGW Platforms Limit Sweeps Coin Play in West Virginia
VGW has limited Sweeps Coin gaming on its West Virginia platforms, impacting users of Chumba Casino, Global Poker, and LuckyLand Slots after recent rule updates.

VGW, the operator behind popular sweepstakes casino sites like LuckyLand Slots and Chumba Casino, makes a dramatic change to its service offering in West Virginia. According to multiple reports, VGW has announced that players can only use Gold Coins (GCs) on its platforms in the state, which means there’s no other option to play with Sweeps Coins (SCs) and redeem them for real-world rewards. This new policy makes gameplay at VGW platforms purely social, without the cash or voucher component.
According to the shared schedules, players can no longer earn SCs starting November 11; all SC gameplay will end, and VGW’s platforms will stop processing redemptions by November 25th.
Key Dates to Remember If You’re a VGW Player at West Virginia

VGW, one of the sweepstakes casino’s top operators, continues to adjust its strategic plan ahead of tightening rules in the industry. For its West Virginia operations, the company plans to restrict players' gameplay on its platforms- Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker.
VGW has confirmed that only GCs are allowed on these platforms, removing Sweeps Coins (SCs) gameplay and its redemptions. If you’re a player at one or all three VGW platforms, then don’t forget to check out the released schedule:
- November 11. Players can no longer win or claim SCs on these platforms. However, you can still use your existing SC balance to play or swap for prizes.
- November 18. All SC gameplay ends, and mail-in requests are no longer processed. Players with existing SCs on their accounts can still initiate redemptions.
- November 25. VGW sites will stop processing all SC redemptions in the state, finalising the phase-out of gameplay.
It’s All Free-to-Play at VGW’s West Virginia Sites Starting November 25th
After completing the scheduled phaseout, VGW sites in West Virginia become free-to-play platforms. New players can still register, but they can only claim Gold Coins as bonuses and use these to play sweeps-style games for free, with no option to initiate redemptions for vouchers or cash prizes.
VGW’s latest pivot is influenced by West Virginia’s regulatory pressures. Earlier this year, the state’s Attorney General issued subpoenas to different sweepstakes casino operators over concerns about illegal gambling and consumer protection. Although reports did not name specific companies, VGW’s decision to adjust its gameplay policies in the state suggests it’s part of the list.
West Virginia Remains Open to Online Casinos

Unlike other states, West Virginia remains open to licensed online casinos. Currently, locals can register and play in top platforms such as BetMGM, FanDuel, Caesars, and DraftKings. All online casinos are regulated by the West Virginia Lottery Commission, sanctioned under state laws.
Players must be at least 21 years old and physically located in the state to register and wager. Since these are license and regulated, players can count on better consumer protections and responsible gambling tools.
