YouTube to Enforce Tougher Restrictions on Gambling and Gaming Videos in November 2025
YouTube will implement stricter rules for gambling and gaming videos starting in November 2025.

YouTube, the streaming platform, has introduced tighter regulations on gaming and gambling content starting November 17th, 2025, to enhance its safety program for young audiences. In an announcement posted on Google Community, YouTube shared its plans to police gaming and gambling content in response to changing trends. The new policy covers videos that highlight gambling using digital assets like NFTs, virtual currencies, and in-game items.
In addition, YouTube is also tightening the rules on videos featuring casino-style games like roulette and online slots. YouTube’s recent policy shift addresses the increasing overlap between real-money gambling and digital entertainment.
New Community Rules In Effect Starting November 17th
YouTube’s latest community guidelines were announced on Google’s Community Page. In a message addressed to creators, YouTube shared its plans to strengthen the enforcement of its Community Guidelines, particularly on online gambling and graphic violence in gaming. Here’s a summary of what to expect starting November 17th:
- Online gambling content. Google’s current policy prohibits content that links viewers to gambling apps and sites not Google-certified. Effective November 17th, YouTube is expanding enforcement to include online gambling with additional items that boast monetary value, such as NFTs and game skins.
- Social casino content. YouTube’s latest campaign now covers the popular sweepstakes casinos. Websites and videos that depict social casino gaming are now age-restricted.
- Graphic gaming content. YouTube will now age-restrict some aspects of video game content featuring realistic human characters that are depicted in violent scenes.
In a statement, YouTube explains that these latest changes “keep pace with new trends, like gambling with digital goods”, and adds that these will “align guidelines for mature content with industry standards”.
Sweepstakes Casinos Take a Hit
Sweepstakes casino operators and their content creators get the big blows from YouTube’s latest moves. This can translate to fewer viewership for social gaming videos and may impact signups in top betting platforms, too.
Stake US, which relies heavily on influencer marketing and streaming exposure, is possibly one of the biggest casualties. The popular gaming site is currently facing litigation in Missouri over its advertisements and association with influencers like rapper Drake and Adin Ross.
With this latest crackdown, videos that highlight social casino-style gaming or betting may see a drop in viewers since they’re now age-restricted, demonetized or worse, removed from the platform. In short, sweepstakes casinos and betting sites may potentially lose one powerful platform, and they may be forced to rethink their business models.
