KeSPA Cup Returns This July With Disney+ Exclusive Broadcast

The KeSPA Cup returns on July 20 with every LCK team set to compete and Disney+ once again serving as the exclusive broadcaster.

KeSPA Cup Returns in July With Disney+ Broadcast

The KeSPA Cup is returning much sooner than League of Legends fans expected, but its 2026 schedule is already raising questions.

Announced during the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational, this year's tournament will begin on July 20, just one day after the Esports World Cup concludes in Riyadh. All 10 LCK teams are set to compete, with matches streaming exclusively on Disney+ before the tournament concludes with an offline finals weekend in Daejeon.

While the return of one of Korea's longest-running League of Legends tournaments is welcome news, the timing could create scheduling headaches for teams that are still competing elsewhere.

Every LCK Team Will Compete

The 2026 KeSPA Cup will feature all 10 organizations from the LCK, including reigning contenders such as T1, Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, Dplus KIA, and KT Rolster.

The group stage and quarterfinals will take place online from July 20 to August 11, with Disney+ serving as the tournament's exclusive streaming platform. The competition will then move to the Daejeon Esports Stadium, where the semifinals and grand final are scheduled for August 17 and 18.

Disney+ also hosted last year's tournament, making this the second consecutive KeSPA Cup to air exclusively on the streaming platform.

Scheduling Could Create Problems

The biggest talking point surrounding this year's event isn't the participating teams but the calendar.

The Esports World Cup concludes on July 19, leaving whichever LCK representative reaches the League of Legends grand final with just one day before the KeSPA Cup begins. That offers almost no time for players to travel back to South Korea, recover from an international event, and prepare for another tournament.

The schedule becomes even more complicated later in the competition. The KeSPA Cup semifinals and finals overlap with the LCK's regular season, meaning participating teams could potentially have matches at LoL Park in Seoul while also needing to compete in Daejeon, roughly 140 kilometers away.

Neither KeSPA nor Riot Games Korea has explained whether adjustments will be made to accommodate teams that qualify for the latter stages of the tournament.

Will Teams Field Their Full Rosters?

Another question surrounds which players fans will actually see competing.

Last year's KeSPA Cup featured several organizations using academy players, substitutes, or benched members instead of their starting lineups. Gen.G, for example, did not field stars such as Chovy throughout the tournament.

Given this year's even tighter schedule, many expect organizations to once again rotate their rosters rather than risk player fatigue during one of the busiest stretches of the competitive season.

The tournament also remains exclusive to viewers in South Korea unless Disney+ announces broader international availability. Last year's event was region-locked, limiting overseas fans from watching the matches through official broadcasts.

Despite those concerns, the KeSPA Cup remains an important part of Korea's competitive calendar. Whether teams treat it as a showcase for their starting lineups or another opportunity to develop younger talent may ultimately depend on how demanding the schedule proves to be over the coming weeks.
