NaVi and Team Spirit secured major CS2 tournament victories over the weekend as teams now prepare for the IEM Cologne Major 2026.

Counter-Strike’s final stretch before the IEM Cologne Major 2026 delivered two significant results over the weekend, with Team Spirit winning PGL Astana 2026 before Natus Vincere followed it up with a title victory at IEM Atlanta 2026.

The tournaments also shifted attention toward the upcoming Major in Cologne, particularly after Team Vitality’s dominant run was finally stopped in Atlanta after months of controlling the competitive scene.

Team Spirit Dominates PGL Astana 2026

PGL Astana 2026 concluded with Team Spirit defeating Falcons 3-0 in a one-sided grand final performance.

Spirit entered the tournament under pressure after going several months without winning a major international event, but the roster looked comfortable throughout the competition and regained the form that previously made them one of the strongest teams in Counter-Strike.

Danil “donk” Kryshkovets once again became the centerpiece of Spirit’s success. The 18-year-old star secured the MVP award after consistently dominating opposing teams throughout the event.

The tournament also marked the first official appearance of the new Falcons roster led by veteran in-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen. Despite the heavy loss in the grand final, Falcons still managed to exceed early expectations by reaching the championship series during their first event together.

The roster showed positive signs throughout the tournament, particularly in playoff matches where their structure and mid-round calling already looked significantly improved compared to earlier Falcons lineups. However, Spirit’s pace and firepower in the finals proved too much for the new roster to handle.

NaVi Ends Vitality’s Dominant Run at IEM Atlanta

Following Astana, attention immediately shifted toward IEM Atlanta 2026, where Team Vitality once again entered as the clear tournament favorite.

Vitality had spent most of 2026 dominating nearly every event they attended, including their recent BLAST Rivals Season 1 championship.

That streak finally came to an end in Atlanta after NaVi eliminated Vitality and BetBoom Team during the playoffs before going on to defeat GamerLegion 3-0 in the grand final.

NaVi looked significantly more composed throughout the tournament compared to several of their earlier appearances this year. The team played with more confidence in high-pressure situations, while their aggressive approach consistently disrupted opponents during both the playoffs and the grand final.

The victory also served as an important result heading into the Major cycle, as NaVi became one of the few teams this season to successfully defeat Vitality in a playoff environment.

For Vitality, the loss does not remove them from their position as the strongest team in CS2 this year, but it does show that the gap between them and the rest of the field is no longer as overwhelming as it appeared earlier in the season.

Attention Now Turns Toward the Next International Events

With PGL Astana and IEM Atlanta now completed, several teams immediately shift focus toward another major CS2 tournament this May 2026, the upcoming CS Asia Championships 2026 in Shanghai.

Falcons will enter the tournament with significant attention after reaching the PGL Astana grand final during karrigan’s debut event with the roster. The team showed strong structure throughout the tournament despite being outplayed by Spirit in the finals. PARIVISION, The MongolZ, MOUZ, and Aurora are also among the notable teams attending the event before the circuit eventually moves toward the IEM Cologne Major later in the season.

Meanwhile, NaVi, Spirit, and Vitality leave the weekend with momentum for the next stage of the season after delivering some of the strongest performances across recent Tier 1 tournaments.
