Visa Signs Multi-Year Global Sponsorship Deal With Evo Through 2028

Visa Signs Multi-Year Global Sponsorship Deal With Evo

Visa is expanding its presence in esports after signing a multi-year global sponsorship agreement with the Evolution Championship Series (Evo), becoming an official partner of the world's largest fighting game tournament circuit through early 2028.

The partnership begins with Evo Las Vegas 2026, which takes place from June 26 to 28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Beyond the flagship U.S. event, the agreement also covers Evo's growing international calendar, including Evo Japan, Evo France, and Evo Singapore.

The deal is one of Evo's most significant commercial partnerships to date and continues the tournament's push to attract global brands as it expands beyond its traditional North American audience.

Fans Will See Visa Throughout Evo Las Vegas

Visa's sponsorship goes beyond branding, with several fan-focused activations planned for Evo Las Vegas this weekend.

Among the highlights is the "Friday Night Showdown," a Street Fighter 6 exhibition match featuring popular content creators Tyler "Tyler1" Steinkamp and Ludwig Ahgren. The company will also sponsor hourly Evo Flash Tournaments that are open to attendees throughout the event, giving players additional opportunities to compete outside the main tournament brackets.

Fans making purchases at the venue will also receive a 10% discount on official Evo merchandise when paying with a Visa card.

Evo Las Vegas 2026 is expected to feature more than 12 fighting game titles and offers a minimum prize pool of $500,000, making it one of the biggest events on this year's fighting game calendar.

"It's incredibly exciting to have the Visa brand join the fighting game community in our commitment to deliver unforgettable experiences at our Evo events," said RTS CEO Stuart Saw. "Our team will help bring Visa into our event in a way that feels natural and offers real value to our competitors and fans globally."

Partnership Follows Evo's Ownership Changes

The sponsorship comes just months after Evo underwent a significant ownership change.

Earlier this year, RTS acquired the remaining stake in Evo from NODWIN Gaming, giving the company full ownership of the tournament series. RTS itself is owned by Qiddiya City, a Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund-backed project, making Evo fully operated under the same ownership group following the transaction.

The restructuring also cleared the way for Evo's next phase of international growth. Beginning in 2027, the fighting game circuit is expected to launch new events in Brazil, Morocco, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and China, further expanding Evo's footprint beyond its established tournaments in the United States, Japan, France, and Singapore.

The Visa partnership gives Evo another globally recognized sponsor as it prepares for that expansion.

Visa Continues Investing in Esports

The agreement is the latest addition to Visa's growing esports portfolio.

In recent years, the payments company has expanded its presence across competitive gaming through partnerships with the Mobile Legends M7 World Championship, TALON Esports in the Asia-Pacific region, and Latin American organization Isurus.

For Visa, Evo offers access to one of esports' longest-running communities and one of the most internationally diverse audiences in competitive gaming. For Evo, adding a global financial brand alongside existing partners such as PlayStation, Chipotle, Zenni, and Suzuki further strengthens the commercial appeal of the fighting game circuit as it enters a new phase of global expansion.

With Evo Las Vegas set to begin this weekend, the partnership will make its debut in front of thousands of competitors and fans before rolling out across the circuit's international events over the next several years.
