Novig has become the first Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulated prediction market to require all users to be at least 21 years old, introducing a new responsible trading framework aimed at strengthening consumer protection.

The new policy is part of a set of new safeguards that have been added directly to the company's exchange rulebook. Alongside the age requirement, Novig has introduced measures covering self exclusion, loss limits, marketing standards and improved market surveillance as it looks to set a new benchmark for responsible participation in the prediction market industry.

Setting a New Standard

Most federally regulated prediction market platforms currently allow users aged 18 and over to participate. By increasing its minimum age to 21, Novig is aligning itself more closely with the standards followed by many regulated U.S. sportsbooks.

The company said the changes are designed to promote responsible trading while supporting long term market integrity as the prediction market sector continues to expand. The updated framework has been formally incorporated into Novig's exchange rules, making the new requirements part of its regulatory obligations.

Focus on Responsible Trading

Beyond the new age restriction, Novig's framework includes tools intended to help users better manage their trading activity.

These include voluntary self exclusion options, responsible trading controls and stricter marketing practices. The company says the measures are intended to create a safer environment for participants while reinforcing confidence in federally regulated prediction markets.

Industry Continues to Evolve

The announcement comes shortly after Novig launched its nationwide sports focused prediction market following its designation as a CFTC regulated exchange.

As prediction markets continue to gain popularity across the United States, operators are investing not only in new products and partnerships but also in consumer protection and compliance. Novig's decision to adopt a nationwide 21+ age requirement could prompt further discussion across the industry as platforms continue to refine their responsible trading policies.
