Polymarket is reportedly looking to raise fresh capital at a valuation of more than $20 billion, a move that would further cement its position as one of the world's most valuable prediction market companies.
According to reports, the company is in early discussions to raise around $1 billion in new funding. If successful, the deal would mark another significant increase in Polymarket's valuation, following previous funding rounds that valued the business at $15 billion earlier this year.
Investor Interest Continues to Grow
The reported fundraising comes as prediction markets continue attracting strong interest from investors, fuelled by fast user growth and record trading activity.
Polymarket has expanded its offering considerably over the past year, moving beyond politics into sports, finance and real world events. The company has also signed several high profile partnerships and invested heavily in expanding its platform as competition across the industry intensifies.
Chasing the Industry's Biggest Players
A successful funding round would bring Polymarket closer to rival Kalshi, which secured a $22 billion valuation following its own funding raise earlier this year.
While Kalshi has recently led the market in trading volume, Polymarket continues to grow its business through new products, strategic partnerships and international expansion. Both companies have benefited from increased interest in prediction markets, particularly during major sporting events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Growth Comes Alongside New Challenges
The fundraising discussions also come as Polymarket continues to navigate regulatory and legal scrutiny in several markets.
Despite those challenges, the company has continued hiring senior executives, expanding its workforce and investing in new technology as it looks to strengthen its position in the evolving prediction market industry. Reports suggest the business now employs close to 300 people, showing its growth over the past two years.
Although the funding talks are still at an early stage and no deal has been confirmed, the reported valuation underlines the confidence investors continue to show in the long term potential of prediction markets.
