A new organisation called the Sports Traders Union (STU) has been launched with the goal of representing people who use prediction market platforms, giving traders a collective voice as the industry continues to expand.
The group says it will advocate for fair regulation, educate policymakers about prediction markets and represent the interests of users as legal and regulatory debates continue across the United States. The launch comes at a time when platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket are attracting record trading volumes while at the same time facing growing attention from lawmakers and state regulators.
Representing the Trading Community
According to the Sports Traders Union, its mission is to ensure that prediction market users are included in discussions that could shape the future of the industry.
The organisation says that much of the public debate has focused on regulators, operators and sports betting stakeholders, while the views of traders themselves have often been overlooked. By bringing users together under a single organisation, the STU hopes to provide a stronger voice on issues such as market access, consumer protections and regulatory policy.
Focus on Education and Advocacy
Alongside representing traders, the union plans to engage with policymakers and regulators to explain how prediction markets operate and how they differ from traditional sports betting.
The group says it will also promote responsible trading practices and encourage greater transparency as the sector continues to evolve. Its launch reflects the increasing maturity of the prediction market industry, where discussions are no longer limited to new products and trading volumes but also include governance and user representation.
Industry Continues to Evolve
The creation of the Sports Traders Union comes during a period of fast growth for prediction markets.
Major sporting events such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup have driven record trading activity, while platforms continue to introduce new products, partnerships and financial markets. At the same time, ongoing legal challenges in several U.S. states have highlighted the importance of how the industry is represented to regulators and lawmakers.
Whether the Sports Traders Union becomes an influential voice remains to be seen, but its launch shows more signs that the prediction market industry is developing beyond trading platforms alone, with greater attention now being given to the interests of the people who use them.
