Team Liquid and Alienware are sticking together for another five years, extending one of the longest-running partnerships in esports through 2031.
The new agreement between Team Liquid and Dell's gaming brand will take the partnership to nearly 20 years, making it one of the most enduring commercial relationships in competitive gaming. The two organizations first began working together in 2011, when esports was still a very different industry from what it is today.
Since then, the partnership has grown well beyond simply putting Alienware hardware in front of Team Liquid players. It has developed into a broader performance and technology relationship covering training facilities, equipment testing and product development.
From Gaming Setups To Performance Labs
When Team Liquid and Alienware first partnered, professional esports teams were still largely operating from gaming houses and LAN environments. Fifteen years later, the collaboration includes dedicated Alienware Training Facilities in Los Angeles, Utrecht and São Paulo.
These facilities are designed around professional player performance, incorporating high-end equipment, analytics and dedicated support staff. The goal has shifted from simply giving players powerful PCs and peripherals to creating environments where teams can properly train and prepare for competition.
Team Liquid players have also contributed directly to Alienware's hardware development. Pros have been involved in performance testing for the company's Pro Series peripherals, giving the organization feedback from players competing at the highest level.
That gives the partnership a different dimension from a traditional esports sponsorship. Alienware gets direct access to professional players testing its products, while Team Liquid gets access to hardware and performance infrastructure that can be integrated into its competitive operations.
The New Deal Starts With World Of Warcraft
The renewed partnership is already being put to work through the World of Warcraft Race to World First, presented by Alienware and produced by Team Liquid.
The event brings together leading WoW guilds for a marathon race to defeat a new Mythic raid before their competitors. Teams can spend days working through the encounter, making hardware reliability particularly important when a technical failure can potentially wipe out hours of preparation.
The Race to World First therefore provides a natural showcase for the latest stage of the Team Liquid-Alienware relationship, combining competitive gaming, content production and Alienware's technology.
A Partnership That Has Survived Esports' Changes
The length of the relationship is notable in an industry where sponsorships and partnerships can change rapidly as teams, games and commercial priorities shift.
Team Liquid has expanded significantly since the partnership began and now fields 96 athletes across major titles including League of Legends, Dota 2, VALORANT and Counter-Strike 2. The organization is also described as the highest prize-money earning Western esports organization.
Team Liquid Co-CEO Steve Arhancet reflected on how much the industry has changed since the original agreement was signed, noting that esports was still largely an idea rather than the global business it has become.
The five-year extension means Alienware will remain alongside Team Liquid as the organization enters another period of growth, taking the partnership into 2031 and potentially toward its twentieth anniversary.
For both sides, the deal is less about starting something new than continuing a relationship that has already lasted through some of the biggest changes in esports.
